COVERAGES

COMPREHENSIVE
Comprehensive coverage is a type of auto insurance that helps pay for damage to your vehicle caused by events other than a collision. This includes theft, vandalism, fire, natural disasters, falling objects, and damage caused by animals. It also typically covers windshield damage and weather-related losses such as hail or flooding. Comprehensive coverage does not cover damage from car accidents with other vehicles and is usually optional unless required by a lender or lease agreement.

LIABILITY
Liability insurance is a type of auto insurance coverage that helps pay for damages and injuries you cause to other people in a car accident. It covers the cost of repairs to someone else’s vehicle or property, as well as medical expenses, lost wages, and legal fees if you are found at fault. Liability insurance does not cover damage to your own vehicle or your own injuries. In many places, it is the minimum coverage required by law to legally drive a vehicle.

COLLISION
Collision coverage is a type of auto insurance that helps pay for repairs or replacement of your vehicle if it is damaged in a crash with another vehicle or an object, such as a pole, fence, or guardrail. It applies regardless of who is at fault in the accident. Collision coverage does not cover injuries or damage to other people’s property and is usually optional unless required by a lender or lease agreement.

UNINSURED/UNDERINSURED
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist (UM/UIM) coverage is a type of auto insurance that helps protect you if you are involved in an accident caused by a driver who has no insurance or not enough insurance to cover the damages. It can help pay for medical expenses, lost wages, and sometimes pain and suffering for you and your passengers. In some policies, it may also cover damage to your vehicle. This coverage helps ensure you are not left paying out of pocket when another driver is unable to fully cover the costs of an accident.

MEDICAL
Medical coverage in auto insurance helps pay for medical expenses if you or your passengers are injured in a car accident, regardless of who is at fault. It can cover costs such as hospital visits, doctor services, surgery, ambulance fees, and sometimes rehabilitation. Medical coverage is designed to provide quick access to medical care after an accident and may be required or optional depending on state laws and the type of coverage selected.

MINIMUM REQUIRED BY LAW

To legally drive in Texas, you must carry liability auto insurance with at least the following limits, often written as 30/60/25:
